What does your week look like w/o the DVDs?

I have the TM, CD and Workbook. I will be making flashcards for the Vocab.

Not sure how this will work but here's my idea...

Lesson 1

Monday: Go over "practical Latin" and English/Latin alphabet.

Tuesday: Review, Vocabulary, "Oremus", and Derivatives.

Wednesday: Review, Workbook page 8

Thursday: Review, Workbook page 9

Friday: Recap the week.

Please help me!

I did not have the flashcards for PL, so I would just quiz from the student book. My ds (9 yrs then) and I would listen to the CD one day (usually Monday) and then I'd quiz him (orally) periodically, on all words he had learned, a few times a week. He has an excellent memory, so 2-3 days a week worked for him. Even my younger kids (5 and 8 at the time) picked up the vocabulary and prayers just by being nearby when we were going over it. My son would do the exercise page whenever he had time. We were relaxed about it and he did fine. I'm finding that Latina Christiana I reviews the vocabulary learned in PL, though it gets heavy on latin grammar. More repetition is needed to keep up with the growing vocabulary list, but their is some familiarity after working through PL. Hope this helps!

Looks good. I think that this has become my unofficial mantra I've posted this so many times, but... Take a look at the articles section of www.memoriapress.com particularly the articles on conducting Latin Recitation; there are several. Daily Latin Recitation has transformed my Latin instruction, and beginning it in Prima Latina will make Latina Christiana so much easier. Your building a foundation now for later.

Here is a post I wrote last month. HTH!

We started PL last fall and it has gone very well. We try to get to Latin 4 days/week. Day 1 we listen to the CD, and go over the 1st two pages, minus the Derivatives section. Day 2 we listen to the CD and do the 3rd page. Day 3 we listen to the CD, do the 4th page. Day 4 we review and do the Vocab. Drill Form form the TM. It is all very easy and my DDs (even the 3yo) have quickly learned the Latin.

In addition we follow the TM suggestions to use Latin as much as possible in our everyday conversations. The first week, the girls were saying, "Let's hit the via, Mama!" and thought it was soooo funny! We say, "Oremus," before each prayer and say the Sanctus each night as a part of our bedtime prayers.

For us, Latin is very light and fun. They really enjoy learning their new words each week and are always looking for an opportunity to insert Latin words into everyday conversation.

The routine was one I picked up off the old board.

But, at some point, we started doing the exercises orally daily, then had ds fill them in on the last day (either Thurs or Fri). I can't remember exactly how I did this because I don't have it here anymore - I doubt we did the entire lesson orally every day. But doing the exercises every day for 2-3 days orally really cemented everything in his mind and made the written work much, much easier!
