Hello!
I have a new book group going at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ElementaryClassics/ if anyone wants to join. This is a group for elementary aged kids and their parents. We will be using inspiration from "Drawn Into The Heart Of Reading" for genre selections each month. Students are encouraged to submit discussion posts, pictures of projects, book recommendations/reports, research links, etc. that have to do with the genre of the month. Questions drawn from the TM of DITHOR will be sent out to the group via email to help aid in discussion. Books will be selected individually to fit the genre and may include picture books or chapter books, read-alones or read-alouds.
Although DITHOR is a Christian curriculum, this group is secular in nature. We will not be discussing the "Godly Character Traits" as a group, but families can, of course, incorporate this on their own. We are also, as a group, collecting links and lesson plans to fit each of the nine genres that we will be visiting in 2008. Please come and contribute!
