I just got the pre-level chem set. How the heck do you use it? There are no lesson plans, and I can't tell what goes with what. Do you read a chapter and do 1 experiment?

You do need the Teacher's Manual, though. It has the directions for the experiments. Without it, the experiments make little sense. There really are not lesson plans, though.

What Nan said. :D

You can view the TM from the author's website (http://gravitaspublications.com/_product_36087/Pre-Level_1_Chemistry_-_Teacher%27s_Manual), which might also help you make sense of the program.

Ahhh, well then it is just read a chapter, do the experiment, fill in the lab.

I like RS4K but it is too streamlined for us. I could see it working well for people who only do science a couple times a week, or for a co-op, but we do things daily, and there just isn't enough in RS4K for use to make it work for us. With the Chemistry 1 my oldest is doing now I went in and made up a schedule with two DK books, Tiner's History of Chemistry and extra experiments. That is even only 15 weeks long. She is about finished with it and I don't have time to put together another schedule using the RS4K books, so she is going to do something else.

If I just let my oldest go she would be through the a book in about 5 weeks easily. I just don't think she would retain it. :001_huh:
