Vocabulary instead of spelling

I found my copy of WTM and I have not kept up with SWB's recommendations for vocab in middle school (Classical Roots). If you didn't use that, what else have you used? I have in the back of my mind that this is toward SAT prep. When do you start? (which grade)

My dc have used Vocabulary for the High School Student and Vocabulary for the College Bound by Amsco bought from Hewitt Homeschool. The first we used in 9th but quickly found it could be used in 8th, so the second we now use in 9th.

We use the Wordly Wise series. The Worldly Wise 3000 editions has workbooks for grades k thru 12th.
