Has anyone used the dvd's (or satellite) for the upper levels of BJU Math (Pre-Alg and above)? Other than some dated clothes and hairstyles :tongue_smilie:, how is the program? Did you find that the explanations were clear, the textbooks thorough, and the teacher could -- reasonably well -- hold your student's attention?
Thanks for any input!

We're using Pre-Algebra and we're not thrilled with the teacher. Sometimes she is confusing and always seems to be stumbling over words. I'm not sure what we're going to do next year. Math is NOT my thing. I'm going to talk to the my Homeworks consultant and see if she has a few lessons of the person that does Algebra before I blindly buy it. Frankly I'm surprised that they don't have someone a little better. Her other DVD teachers are outstanding.

Shari,
It has been awhile, maybe since last year this time (?) but you might be able to pull up old discussions re BJU textbooks.
We used Geometry for my dd with Homesat, and it was passable, but not as good as ds and I had done ourselves with the Larson textbook that Chalkdust uses. (That year I wasn't available for much of anything b/c I was caring for my FIL in what turned out to be his last year. :( ) She liked the teacher's organization and she is a great student, so she did OK, but it wasn't great. Ds' PreCalc (same year, BJU with Homesat) was not good at all, in spite of his always having liked and done well with math. Halfway thru the year we chucked the BJU, got him a tutor, switched to Lial's PreCalc for a text, and bought the Thinkwell DVDs for good measure so he could watch the lessons, which coincided nicely with Lial's. Some of the other mathy moms who have taught with or from BJU texts might chime in, but I believe the consensus was that they aren't that great.
I hope you can find specifics in the old threads.
