Rod & Staff English 2? Should I start with this in 2nd or

wait for 3rd grade and just start with the 3rd grade text? I'm currently using GWG with my 1st grader, but he isn't retaining it. Anyway.... just curious when others start R&S grammar.

We're waiting till 3rd grade. If you do books 3-8, you'll have plenty of grammar.

...then started Rod and Staff in Grade 3. Loved First Language Lessons! They just didn't have the 3rd grade ready when ds was starting 3rd. So we've done Rod and Staff for 3rd and 4th. I haven't seen the 2nd grade one, so I can't comment on it. But I have found Rod & Staff very gentle. They cover a lot of detailed grammar, but incrementally and in small lessons. It's easy to understand.
