Has anyone compared The Spell of Words to Apples?

I am looking for a workbook for spelling that my dd14 can do independently and that will not take a lot of time. Which one of these would seem less babyish? I have read good things here about Apples, but not much about The Spell of Words. I have liked many titles by EPS and so thought I should consider this. I did look at samples but was wondering if anyone had experience with both.

Also I am wondering if Spellbound by the same author is meant to follow The Spell of Words.
