My son has taken two years of Spanish in high school, but does not want to have to take a language in college. We live in FL and all the state schools require that two years of a foreign language be taken at college level. Anyone know of out-of-state colleges/universities which don't have this requirement or private colleges in FL?

I believe you can test/be evaluated out of the required one year of foreign language at Eckerd College in St. Pete.

have you tried using the college matchmaker? (http://collegesearch.collegeboard.com/search/adv_typeofschool.jsp)
I have really found that site helpful in narrowing places down.

The foreign language requirement may depend on what your son chooses to study. My dd is majoring in music (B.Mus. program) and my ds plans to major in engineering. Neither will be required to take any foreign language in college. If they had chosen to major in, say, English or economics, they would have been required to take foreign language.
Check FACTS.org (http://facts23.facts.org/navigation/home.do) . If he can't get out of it, he could take the summer intensive--1 yr of language in the summer semester. I did that & while it was intense, I started dreaming in German, which I hadn't even had in hs. :)
