I am new to this board and will have a freshman next year. We will do analytical high school grammar review
to maintain grammar. I would like to do a good vocab
program that is latin/greek based-I'm thinking Jesen's
vocab to increase vocab for SAT testing. Any other suggestions? I am planning
on using how to write an essay and how to do a research
paper by the same people who wrote the analytical grammar. (I'll use their how to do a book report if
it is on the market otherwise I'll need to find something.) He'll do 2 essays per semester a research paper in the fall and a book report in the spring. Would
this be adequate for 1 credit? What would you call
it?

Overall, your plan looks good except I didn't see literature mentioned as part of the study. Maybe you just forgot to list it. If not, I'd add literature.

For English, I include: grammar, vocab, literature, and composition. Many people eliminate grammar and vocab in the later years. Since dc's vocab is strong and they haven't needed to repeat SAT testing in 12th grade, I eliminated vocabulary. We still keep up with grammar.

I named our classes English I, II, III, and IV and tagged on the focus of literature study. This gave us: English I: Ancient Literature, English II: American Literature, English III: 20th Century World Literature, and English IV: British Literature.

Hope that helps. :)
