I'm loving Sonlight K but still feel like we're missing something in Social Studies. My dd loves loves loves geography and I thought maybe adding GTG would be fun for us. What do you think? Are they too different from each other - would they not complement each other well? Thank you for your advice in advance!

I did this in a very loose way - we'd read from Core K, and then when something interested us from one of the books, we'd go off on a long tangent on that country/continent. Then when we were tired of that we'd go back to the read alouds for awhile. Back and forth - eventually we did all the read alouds and as much of the countries as we wanted. :001_smile:

I'm planning on doing something similar in a year or so when I do Core 5 with the olders and K with the littles.

ETA: I wasn't clear that I did use GTG as our base for our geography studies. I thought SL K and GTG worked well together, if they are taken as slow/fast as your children's needs dictate (of course) :)

I did somthing along those lines with my youngest ds. We didn't use GTG, but we did the SL stories in more of a tour of the continents fashion. There are books and stories from a nice selection of countries. :D He loves maps, so we read through a child's atlas and marked where the stories took place on our big, wall map.
