Is there anyone else who can not understand how this man thought he had the right to spend this money that he KNEW he did not earn or put in his account???

This story has bugged me to no end. There are some people who think he had a right to spend the money because he told the bank originally it wasn't his. The bank said it was (same name as the signature on the other account it really belonged to).
I just don't get it. $5.8 million does not just appear in your account as a surprise "gift". Apparently the guy will tell the court what the bank said that makes him think it was his to spend (which he did do with about $2 million I believe). I can not think of any scenario that has the teller giving an explanation that could truly explain to this guy that he won the lottery or something.
I would have talked to the manager or the President of the bank. They would have investigated the matter and figured it out pretty quick.
Some people just make me wonder about the common sense of the human race
