I decided to start letting him drill daily on MathUSee. Last week he worked on 3s. By Friday he could do 20 problems in 60 seconds. This week we did 3s. Today he could do 20 problems in 70 seconds. The 'timed' part of it has been difficult for him as he freezes up knowing there is a timer running. I think I've finally convinced him that the timer is there to help him monitor his speed because once he can do it with a certain amount of speed that will tell us that he knows them by heart.
