What are the benefits? Seems like everyone loves it; just looking for reasons why it is so great! Is it the presentation, order they introduce things-what makes it so different from other programs?
Dd will do GWG5 next yr along with Homer; I'm thinking AG will be our next step after that but I can't remember what all the hoopla was about.

It's very thorough and clearly laid out. It includes diagramming. It's great for "the last push" for grammar in mid high school. I'm using it right now for a tutoring student, and I plan to use it with my own children when they are older. I'm an AG fan!

You don't do it everyday.
You can be done with all of it in a couple of years.

What makes Analytical Grammar different from other grammar books?
It is taught sequentially as a whole body of knowledge instead of being taught piece-meal along with writing or literature or other language activities. When units 1 through 17 are finished, the student has learned ALL the grammar he/she will ever need to know in order to master the rules of punctuation and word usage. Since every concept is woven logically together with every other concept, there simply is no reason for endless repetition and drill.

What they said.....
We get through with each season (a season lasting 10 weeks or a little longer if you need), then we do weekly review or you can do biweekly review (just 5 sentences to parse and diagram). Do the same thing the next year. It is logically organized without all the extra "stuff" that other programs throw into it. We don't have to keep doing grammar lessons "forever".

Clear, concise, efficient. We used Shurley 5 before AG and liked it, but the amount of repetition in Shurley 6 was obscene, imo.
See my review in this thread (http://www.welltrainedmind.com/forums/showthread.php?t=63660&highlight=analytical+grammar).
