Can I use it along with R&S grammar?

Would using IEW or Put That In Writing be an overkill?

Would I need to purchase a separate Lit. curriculum?

It's like a literature book analysis with spelling and writing prompts that apply to one particular book. You could keep your grammar along it but I would not add in writing, like IEW. I like the focus guides from TLP better. I have used several of the guides as a fun break from LA and also as summer assignment.

We are going to try TLP soon. I have two guides from the 5-6th grade list.

My first thought was to rotate TLP with everything else I have for LA, but I'm thinking now I'm just going to use TLP and grammar (we use Seton English) together for a while and see how it goes. After the first guide or so, I'll know whether we need more or less supplements.

I'm pretty sure we'll need some kind of writing program that TEACHES writing. Being that my oldest was in ps until this past year, his writing skills are sorely lacking. :glare:

Also just wanted to mention...
If you're considering this for your youngest, The Cricket in Times Square guide is recommended as a good introduction to TLP.

You can see it here (http://rhondamomof2.blogspot.com/2008/11/how-were-using-total-language-plus.html).

We enjoyed it and plan on doing another one this year.
