I recently started a blog and a couple of times now I would have liked to been able to include a song within a post. I can't figure how to do this! Is it even possible to have a link type thingy within a post ? Or must I go about it some other way with maybe a realplayer type device at the bottom of the post? Pleeaasse help me if you can.:o

Are you talking about including You Tube videos in posts or links to videos on You Tube or elsewhere? I guess I've included links to music clips without video before, but it's harder to find the entire song that way. Usually I just embed a You Tube video into the appropriate spot in my post.

Find the video you want. Look to the right of the video. There will be a little box and one line will say embed and then have the code to copy and paste into your blog in HTML Mode. (It won't work in Compose Mode.) If you can't find the song you want on You Tube, you can google using the title along with "video/embed". I've found You Tube videos work more consistently, though. Sometimes when I use videos from other sites, they work for a while and then stop working or never work to begin with.

I've used something called radio blog, you have to register to use it, and as far as I can figure out you can only use songs they have in their list...but I have used it a few times...it gives you a little play button to put into your post, you can change the colors of the button. Just google radio blog.

I have seen other types on blogs in the sidebars, but I don't know anything about those.

Are you talking about music that automatically plays, or "click here to hear this song?" I think the process is different depending on what you want.

If you're talking about automatic music, my personal opinion is... dont do it! I don't like opening a webpage and having music start on it's own. I tend to avoid those pages if I can.

Agreed. A blog shouldn't be a "total sensory experience." It's really jarring to have music I don't expect (and may not like) start playing at top volume, particularly when I'm on the computer fighting insomnia and the rest of the family is trying to sleep.

Now something like an embedded video that I can click on if I want - no problem there.

JMHO. YMMV. And all that.

Ditto the 'don't do the automatic play' thing. I steer away from those as well.

Sorry, no help. I was popping in for answers, I've wondered the same thing :)

Check out imeem.com For the sake of those who don't like being surprised by music (when I visit a place that has auto-play music my speakers tend to blare because I keep the volume high by default and I tend to jump high enough to create a new skylight) make it so that it doesn't come on automatically! :o

And since my blog is more of a "digital scrapbook" for our family, It only seemed fitting to add our favorite thing: MUSIC! I also add a new track every once in a while that matches the tone of my post....if you click on my blog and look at my latest post (Wordless Wed)then you will understand why i picked the song that plays first.
My kids love to click on our blog just to hear the music....I was thrilled when i figured it out ( I even have a blog post about it!)
anyways, here is the link:)

ProjectPlaylist.com This also works to collect musical pieces for the term's Composer Study. Just last night I added some African music to our Weekly Update.
