Just wanted to share how much my dd enjoyed making this today! The finished product tastes very good. (And the fact that whipped cream is one of my pregnancy cravings didn't hurt either! :) )

We're not a household that would have brandy on hand, so we just substituted 2/3 cup water with a "goodly amount" (maybe 1 teaspoon or so) of almond extract for it. It filled a 10x15 pan for us, but won't last long . . . :)

Thanks for the review -- we should be to chapter 20 by next week and I was looking at that recipe, trying to figure out what to sub for the brandy. I have a bottle of almond extract so will sub as you suggested.

Hey, TrixieB!

A couple of other things: The recipe is a bit vague on some amounts. I used two small boxes of pudding and an 8 oz carton of whipping cream, whipped up with 2 Tablespoons sugar and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla. The pudding and cream had to be spooned on rather than poured, but the girls didn't mind licking the spoons at all! :)

I made that today too! It ended up very tasty, but I think the toast needs a little more time to soak. I shipped DH to pick up the cheap brandy. :001_huh:
