If you wake up and cannot go back to sleep what fun, quirky, or even boring things do you do?

I don't do fun or quirky in the middle of the night. All I can handle is boring. I usually either read or go on the computer.

Plan the future, solve problems, write imaginary books, or think about something that has intrigued me recently, all in the comfort of my bed. I'm lazy.

I usually either read or go on the computer.

Same here. In extreme cases, I'll get a snack or take a hot bath. Insomnia and I go way back. :(

Sometimes I pray. Other times I count, either backwards from 1000 or I'll do prime numbers as high as I can.

I toss and turn, and lay awake worrying about the bills. :(

Pay the bills/work on finances/sort mail. Clean the fridge, plan meals, making shopping lists. Quiet things that I have been putting off for a while.

I read, or watch videos on YouTube.

I pray. I figure it's a good use of my time and it is quiet. I don't usually want to get out of bed cuz it's cold in the house and DH is nice and warm (when he's home anyway. . .well he's probably warm when he's gone too but I don't benefit then).

I lay on the couch and try to go to sleep. I alleviates the stress of keeping dh awake while I'm tossing and turning. Sometimes I go right to sleep. If I can't go to sleep I will read or surf the internet and I usually get sleepy and am able to get back to sleep. Sometimes I just have to stay up. I've decided that I won't stress when I wake up in the night and that seems to help. I have a friend who watches MTV because it's so boring now that they don't have headbangers ball!

I don't wake up much anymore but when I did, I would go on the computer, talk to my friend in Singapore, or pray.

I make lists.
1.) What I need to do the next day
2.) What household repairs/maintenance need to be done
3.) Which areas I still need to declutter
4.) What I need to do next to help each person in my household grow
If I'm still having a problem, I make a list of all the big and small things that are bothering me, or that I'm worried about. Sometimes I do this list first if I know that I'm *worrying* a lot.
After all that, if I'm still not sleepy, I read.
Housecleaning is a very last resort :D

It exhausts my brain and keeps my thoughts from wandering to things that I'm worried about. Insomnia has been a real problem for me over the years.

Sometimes I knit or I come here.

Read. Play video games. Put paperwork away. Pay bills. Rearrange the living room furniture (this really freaks the rest of my family out). Grab a pillow and blanket and camp out on the sofa and watch a movie.
