This is just a little something I came up with when I needed to figure out what the heck I was doing - where I wanted to go with it, etc....
It has allowed me to focus on what we need to do now because my ultimate goal is a kid who can get a few jr. college level classes done in 11th and 12th grade.
If there is something you think I can add - feel free to let me know.
LONG TERM HOMESCHOOL GOALS
MATH
elementary: mastery of - addition, subtraction, multiplication, division
roman numerals, money, measurements in metric and English, charts, graphs, intro to fractions and decimals
junior high: Life of Fred Series - Fractions, Decimals and Percents, Begining Algebra
high school: LOF - Advanced Algebra (if we haven't already done this on in jr. high), Geometry, Trigonometry, Calculus
Basic College Math Review
and jr. college enrollment
ENGLISH
elementary: reading, cursive, intro to grammar, spelling, roots - suffix - prefix, vocabulary, writing, literature
junior high: advanced grammar, spelling, roots etc...., vocab, writing, lit.
high school: serious writing, review of everything, and eventually jr. college enrollment for Enc 1101 and 1102
HISTORY
Introduction to Ancients, Medieval, Renaissance, Modern
American Government/Constitution (will need to look at Toni's list again - she pretty much nailed this one!)
Advanced study of Ancients, Medieval, Renaissance, Modern
SCIENCE
elementary and junior high: museum field trips/homeschool classes, microscopes, astronomy, biology, chemistry, Earth science
high school: advanced biology, chemistry, anatomy and physiology, with eventual placement in jr. college level classes
ELECTIVES
So far: intro to typing, gymnastics. (Looking for art and music classes) and whatever we find along the way......
Since I consider myself an unschooler as well - we stop and drop everything for real life experiences, like when we saw Bill Clinton last year. Hopefully we will see Al Gore when he comes here. There is so much going on in our real lives and it can't all be written down here - but everyday is learning!!! When dd gets a chance to spend a week with her great grandmother or 3 weeks with my own aunt and uncle - she does. Life is an experience to enjoy NOW! I want that for her more than anything.
