I just read Purring When Your Pleased to ds8. He understood the point of the story and even laughed in some parts but had trouble narrating correctly. He is really good with narration so this surprised me. Anyone have this experience with Parables of Nature in particular? Is this a sign he did not understand enough of the story. Like I mentioned he did understand that we should show when we are grateful, pleased etc. I just don't know what to think.

Was this the first Parable of Nature you read to your ds? If yes, I'd suggest reading the stories with narration after every paragraph or 2 at first. And alternating narrating with your ds. They are not easy reads, the stories are very rich and complex. I read many last year to my then 9 & 6 year old...sometimes they were long and convoluted and I didn't know where the author was going. In the end they were always worth the read though. :)
If you've been reading this for awhile, then be glad he understood the main point and enjoyed the actual reading and move on...plenty of years of narration to come.

we are reading them - they like most of them, but some of them are not as "exciting" so they tend to get a bit more bored with the story. Anne Marie

Yes, this was the first. Your right I found the story complex too. Thanks for the suggestion. I think he does need time to get used to them so for now narration after one or two paragraphs seems the way to go.:)
