Pam, I am wishing you were in Cookeville right now! (Actually, I'm wishing me there first!) Ds called me tonight about symptoms he has been having for a week and if you saw the thread below, the 24 hr nurse I spoke to called him directly and told him to go to the hospital. (at least I didn't have to worry about him getting there since he can see it from campus!)

I am terrified about the possibilities b/c it sounds like his liver. Dh is on the phone with a dr friend in Chatt right now.

Emailed you, Pam.

Momof7, is there anything I can do? I'm about ten minutes away from CRMC. I can bring anything to the hospital...anything you need...

Let me know.

Actually, the reason I'm shouting out for Sunshyne is that she's there in town. I was hoping to hook the two of you up. I'm digging into email to see if I have her old email, and if it's web-based I may be able contact her if she's not hanging out here.

I was looking at the possibility of running down there this weekend when I saw your message, but I'm not sure I can get away. :( If I can, I'll do what I can. If you have your email enabled on your profile, I'll email you if I can make it. (Not holding my breath, however.)

I remember how helpless I felt last week. Not fun. I'm thinking good thoughts in both your directions.

Thanks to both of you!! You are both incredibly sweet. Dh just got off the phone with our dr friend, and he said not to panic, yet. He said there are some non-serious reasons for the sypmtoms. He said considering his age and normal good health, that those are good reasons to suspect the non-serious. He said they'll run all kinds of blood and urine tests to check his organ functions and that we'll know better after that.

I pray that is all it is!! (and that he doesn't pick up anything else while he is in there......he said it is really crowded.)

Sunshyne, I'll let you know for sure. Thanks again, both of you.

If he can pick up some occilococcinum (or however you spell that) at the drug store, he should keep it on hand to ward off flu. Doran says you only need 5-10 grains of it under the tongue instead of the whole packet. There's NASTY flu going around out there, and I swear by that stuff. (And if it's a placebo, don't anybody tell me, cuz I don't want to know!)

Anyway, when he gets home, tell him to take a shower and put whatever clothes he wore into the washing machine. (That's called "standard precautions" after visiting the hospital at my house these days. :p)

To just reiterate what Pam has said here...NASTY is the operative word. Our homeschool co-op is canceled tomorrow because well over 3/4 of the families involved are sick or getting sick. My own story: Both kids came down with the flu over the weekend and it hit them hard. Apparently I was walking a bit too proud, thinking I'd dodged a bullet, cuz' it sneaked up on me as well. But, I started taking the oscillo at the VERY FIRST sign of a downward shift (I'm talking very first -- not after I went, "Oh, yea, that really is a cough I've developed and, oy vay! my head hurts." More like when the cough was just a tickle in my chest and everything else felt normal. Unlike the kids, I have not had the high fever nor the duration of sickness. I can't say I feel great, but no where near as bad as they did/do. If Sunshyne can get just this and bring it to him, it will pay off, now or the next time. And, yes. Just take 5 pellets or so every hour until symptoms abate.

Sorry you're having to worry from far away, Momof7 -- sending your son good, strong, healthy juju! :)
