I'm still looking into to BJU math, we've never used it before. I may be able to get the TM used but it's the second edition. If I buy the workbooks they will more than likely be for the third edition. Would this work having two different editions?

I used BJU 2nd edition kindergarten with my oldest son. Years later, I bought a 3rd edition math workbook to use for my daughter (8 years younger). There are MANY changes between the editions. Among other things, the 3rd edition includes much more difficult math, and moves more quickly. While the teacher's edition works for some lessons, there are also many lessons that have changed so much that the TE is useless.

I don't know if this is true for all levels, but since the difficulty level was increased quite a bit a in K, I suspect all the other levels would have been changed just as much to go with it.

The new edition tm comes with a cd that has all the practice sheets from all the supplemental workbooks that you had to buy separately in the old editions. So I'm using BJU5 (old edition, not available new yet, sniff), and I use *3* separate workbooks: Spring Into Action, Stretch Your Mind, and Reviews. Spring is more practice on the lesson (like homework, but we find it essential), Stretch is challenging problems or extension situations, and Reviews is spiral review and fact drill. So instead of paying $30 per kid to buy those 3 extra workbooks, all of which I HIGHLY, triple highly recommend, you can buy the new edition tm that has the cd and print them out. Seems like a better deal to me!

In addition to any changes like the other posted mentioned in scope and sequence, as far as I understand, they've reformatted the approach to the Spring, Reviews, and Stretch pages, to combine them a bit to keep the amounts practical. See by the time you do the Spring, Review, and Stretch page and your regular lesson, it's all really quite a bit, just a bit too much. So if it were me, I'd buy the new edition, that's my two cents.

Thanks ladies! I didn't think it would work but I was hoping. I haven't been able to find any 3rd edition TM used. I would really rather not pay almost $60 for a TM but I may end up having to. :tongue_smilie:
