If using this curriculum would I need to use a separate History program as well. From what I have seen on the webite it looks like I would not need to add history when using this curriculum. If I decide to use it, I would use all three years. Also what about not having a teachers manual with the answers, how hard is that? Would I need to use Starting Points first or could I just start with WVWW 1?
thanks,
Gloria

You'd need to add in another year of history as it only covers 3 years. That said, it takes a VERY mature student to handle it. Basically David Quine took Hillsdale College's Freshman Rhetoric and Great Books curr and attempted to rewrite it for high school kids. It's definitely on the upper end of high school. I took my dd between her freshman and sophomore years to convention to look at it and her response was "yuck"! She simply wasn't into the rhetoric stage yet. She loved it three years later, as a freshman at Hillsdale. :D Interestingly enough, two years later I remember having a long discussion with her about her frustration with a friend at Hillsdale--who was struggling with the concepts--he simply wasn't ready for them though he was 19. He would have NEVER been able to handle them at 17! Perhaps you remember your first year of college--when you stayed up all night, eating pizza, discussing the meaning of life--well, that's WVWW.
There is no teacher's book--it's designed for you to read the books with him and have deep meaningful discussions. That wasn't going to happen at my house with toddlers running around.
Some folks have had more success with WVWW by spreading it out over 4 years.
