Today's Washington Post has an article (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/02/15/AR2009021501546.html) about how to learn them in order, including a song from the White House Historical Society (http://www.whitehousehistory.org/podcasts/whha_americanpresidents.html).

I did it with my dc a couple of years ago. It's easier than you think.

We did it in chunks of 3 - Washington, Adams, Jefferson; then the next new set of 3 with the old, etc.- Washington, Adams, Jefferson, Madison, Monroe, Adams- not moving on until we had the previous set memorized; reciting 5x/wk in 3's until we learned them all. It took 5 min. or less/day. The key is to do it everyday and then recite 1/ week or everyother week.

We're now memorizing the countries of the world by region (East Asia, SE Asia, etc.).

Thanks for sharing this! I love how this song gives a little information about each president. My dc memorized the presidents last year using a different song. We plan to revisit the presidents song each year. Maybe we'll switch to this one!

We used this song to memorize the presidents last semseter: http://www.donttellmyteacher.com/Presidents%20Song.htm

It's to the tune of "Yankee Doodle". We can't listen to Yankee Doodle now without thinking of the presidents :)

We are learning them too. Actually the boys and dh are "racing" to see who can learn them first. Every Saturday night we see how they are doing.

We are using Yo, Millard Fillmore. We also have enjoyed Yo, Sacramento.
