What can you tell me about them? Do they bark much? Are they really good with kids? Playful? Trainable? Require much grooming?
Do you like owning a pug?
What's the worst thing about them?
Would you own another?

We have a pug. She is black, great with kids and...well...not the sharpest knife in the rack. She believes since she can go through a doggy door, she can go through all doors. The only time she barks is when the kids are in the pool. She gets really worked up, so we put her in her crate when we swim.
She loves our kids. The only time she's ever "gone for" them is when they deserved it.(in her face, poking her, etc.) Even then she just growled. Never bites. Sheds a little. The breeder told us she wouldn't shed, but she does. Luckily, she loves being outside. She stays out there most of the time unless it's too cold. The kids are always out there or walking her in the front.
I would own another because they like to play.
As far as grooming, we (meaning: the kids) wash her outside when it's warm w/ baby shampoo. I (the kids)only wash her inside when we(the kids) have to.
I give her two thumbs up!http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/chores016.gif (http://www.freesmileys.org)

We had a pug years ago and LOVED him. He was probably the best-natured dog we ever had and at the time the kids were 3 and 1 and there was never a problem. Pugs are not supposed to shed much and that was our experience too. I never noticed him smelly 'doggy' either. He loved to play and was very energetic so if you have a yard, all the better. We were in an apartment on the second floor so that was a bit of a hassle since there was no real place to run. He did chew so I'd suggest having plenty of things to chew on. But now that we are in a house with a fenced yard, I'd get another in a heartbeat.

Very licky and affectionate, including with their small children.

One thing I've heard about them is that they can't run very fast on their short little legs. But they WANT to keep up, so they're at risk of running themselves to death. We wanted to get a pug puppy, but we were worried that he'd try to run as fast as our border collie and die of exhaustion.

I can't run very fast on my short legs, either :D.

LOL Well, we have a pug and TWO border collies! :D AND a great dane (who is decidedly larger now than he was in this photo). Fez (the pug) keeps up with all of them. He is very sweet and affectionate...travels wonderfully...snores a bit because of that smooshy black face.
Pugs do tend to bark because they are a bit nearsighted, and anything out of their visual range is suspect. ;) Fez here is very protective of us but wouldn't harm a hair (or a kid). He does believe that he is much larger and tougher than his 130-lb. buddy Atlas (above), and that makes for some amusing play.
Pugs are great fun. :)
Our pug shed like a fiend. She shed more than all three of our cats put together. Margo Kaufman (worked for Pug Talk magazine) said in Clara: The Story of the Pug Who Ruled My Life that her pugs shed like buffaloes, and my husband would tell you that truer words were never spoken.
Ginger was good with kids and the cats could usually psych her out, but she was a political dog at heart, which meant we were stuck sleeping with her. For a little dog, she took up A LOT of bed.
My son wants another.

Apparently, they are *very* heat intolerant. My cousin and her family were devastated and felt so guilty even though they had been unaware of the dog's intolerance for heat.

They shed so much, you would think they would be bald. It is incomprehensable how much our pug shed. But Truffle was, in every other respect, the best dog we ever had. We still miss her.

We think one would go very sweetly with our Boston Terrier.
The only thing that has made me reconsider was a conversation here on the boards about them getting scared and having an eye pop out because of that! I haven't had any time to do research on that comment.:D

Our pug had an eye pop out once--car door tapped her. It looked horrible, but the vet popped it right back in. No lasting damage at all.
