I'm thinking about purchasing Sonlight's Discover and Do dvd, along with the companion supply kits, to use as a fun summer science supplement for my dds 5.5 and 7. One is in kinder this year, and the other is in first grade.

My question is: should I purchase the level 1 dvd? or start with the level K? Would the K level dvd and the experiments seem too simple/babyish for my somewhat advanced older dd?

Some background info, if it helps: They are in ps right now, so their exposure to science is somewhat limited. I try to do enrichment at home, including life science read alouds, and dvds like Planet Earth, Life of Birds, etc. We've also dabbled with RS4K pre-level chemistry, and the Science Whiz Chemistry kit -- and will continue to do so over the summer. I'm also going to purchase a basic stereo microscope for them soon -- for fun exploration and discovery.

I got all of these for my 4yo to watch during "schooltime" - just for entertainment. She loved all of them. If you're going to do the experiments, get the associated Usborne science experiment books, too, so you have written instructions. And have fun!

The Usborne experiment books and DVDs used in SL K-2 are all at the same level. You can choose the book with the most interesting topics. If you want open and go science experiments, buy the non-consumable and grade level science kits and you have everything you need.

Thank you -- this is very helpful to know that they are all pretty much at the same level!
