How on earth have I missed this?? I belong to a co-op. I am all over the internet. I research things. I have homeschooled a total of 6 years and I have NEVER even heard this word. I have never seen a lapbook. I have never heard someone talking about a lapbook. I have never stumbled on lapbooks on the web. Am I just in outer space? ( play on words - dd just started her first lapbook on the solar system) Anyway, I can't believe we've missed out on this idea for so long. Is everybody doing lapbooks and I'm just clueless!

We just started our first one on Inventors. It is a nice change from the norm. I will definitely keep the idea for future lessons.

We love lapbooks, I just wish I was creative enough to come up with ideas, instead of always having to buy them premade. Any suggestions? thank you nancyt.

I first heard about them almost 2 years ago and have only been actively doing them since last May. Every 2 to 4 week, I let my children pick a topic they want to learn about and then we spend 2-4 weeks making them. We've had a lot of fun with these.

Glad you finally found out about these and I hope you enjoy it.:001_smile:

Premade?? Can you get them premade? I have seen many examples on the www and found sites that have tons of info, forms, ideas etc. But I don't think I would pay for a premade one. I am a copier only too - I don't have an original idea in my head. Just copy what I see from others. But there is enough on the internet to copy, that you don't have to buy kits.

We've done some from Hands of a Child. They often have a big sale in November and I buy for the year. My oldest dd did one on the elections for her civics credit, and she is working on one about PA for her state history credit. My 2nd dd has done A LOT of lapbooks for her 1st grade animal studies from www.homeschoolshare.com (http://www.homeschoolshare.com). These have been great and they're free!!
