Ideally, I'd love to have them bound into a book, but that's a long way off. First, I've got to get them off the thousands of little scraps of paper and printed out full-size sheets!

My Office software isn't reliable anymore (according to Microsoft, it's because it's "old") so I don't want to go through the work of using that database to enter the information, just to have it seize up or set itself on fire after a couple of weeks' work.

If you use any kind of program or software for entering recipes and printing them out (even just to 3x5 would work), would you mind sharing?

TIA!

You could use one of the recipe websites online. Allrecipes.com (http://allrecipes.com/) is my favorite. You type them up and place them in your own recipe box, make folders to organize them, and keep them private or make them public. It will also format your recipes to print them out on index cards or paper of various sizes.

Dy,

I use Big Oven (http://www.bigoven.com). It is $9.95 for the software but it's pretty cool. You can enter your own recipes, dowload their recipes, or download recipes from any other site on the internet. You can drag and drop recipes onto a calendar to make your menu plan, and then you can create a shopping list based on the menu plan. You can print out recipes as you need them. I've enjoyed it a lot! There is a more expensive version, but I haven't felt the need to upgrade at all.

I'm actually thinking of doing a recipe book for a family gift this year. I was going to compile a bunch of my mom's recipes, as well as various siblings favorites, pepper it up with family photos, and have them printed at Blurb like Crissy did with her China photos. I hope it works!

I LOVE Amy's suggestion of using Big Oven. That sounds like a real winner and I'm going to check into it myself.

Hands on Approach
Another idea is to start out by sorting the recipes into categories and slipping them inside page protectors to go into binders. This is what my mother does and it works really well, especially since she can go back and readjust them if she wants to (she places several on each page). Some of her recipes are printed on two sides, so the page protectors are perfect. Many of the recipes are in the handwriting of people that shared them with her, often being very special - especially if they are no longer living (i.e. her own mother's handwriting)

Scrapbookers?
I was also wondering if anyone has made a scrapbook style recipe book. You'd have to protect the pages somehow, but it seems like a great idea for cherished family recipes, gift giving, etc.

in a binder as I'm always tweaking, adding notes, and new recipes to it.

I am hoping to do this someday. For now they are crammed into a kitchen drawer LOL

Put it up on a blog (because the rest of us would apprciate it!) :D and then have it printed through Blurb!
