View Full Version : Need suggestions for Manuscript program for older child
When my son was in K/1st, he kept reversing his letters, using a mix of caps/lower case, etc. So, we used Cursive First and now he is in 2nd and has beautiful handwriting! So, what's the problem? When he reverts to printing he still does the same thing. Any suggestions for a manuscript program? Since I have other kids, I don't particularly want to create my own. Also, since he's older he needs narrow lines--not your typically wide K lines. Finally, I do not want to use Getty Dubay or HWOT.
Thanks.

Firstly, cursive and ms are different skills: it isn't actually possible to "switch" letters in cursive, if you think about it. As well, cursive, done properly, is an action of the wrist: ms of the fingers.
Finally, it is still quite common at that age to reverse letters. Heck, I still get g's and q's mixed up all the time.
Long story short: don't fret it. The best you can do is simply give him dotted worksheets with smaller lines: if you can afford it, startwrite would be perfect. If not, don't sweat it. He will grow out of it, eventually.
