I've been trying to arrange soccer lessons here. We don't have a ton of sports stuff going on for kids, we are a bit out of the way; there is golf, swimming and karate, but that's about it. So last semester I arranged to have someone come up from Dubai to coach. It took a couple of months to arrange, went through two coaches. The first one stringed me along until everything was finalized with the pitch/field, I had 50 some-odd kids signed up, then he backed out. So someone else stepped in and we at least got five practices in at the very end.

So that coach then said he didn't want to do it anymore. Fine. He missed a lesson (out sick), said he would make it up, but of course hasn't. We have a new coach, who called me and said everything was arranged with the field to start this Sat. So I send out a mass email, probably a couple hundred people, last night. This morning the manager of the field sends out an email to everyone, the coach hasn't gotten in the paperwork so no practice.

Umm, hello! Do you think you could have called the coach or called me before sending that? So I called the coach, he said everything had been agreed upon, he doesn't understand. So I said he needed to call the manager asap to get it fixed. And tell him to send out another email.

The first practice is supposed to be Sat, and tomorrow is the start of the weekend. So everything crunched together timewise, now everyone will be confused, and it has all become a big mess.

I don't know why I keep torturing myself.. well, I do, it's because my kids love soccer. But maybe from next year I'll bite the bullet and drive them to Dubai (about an hour each way) for practices there.

Ugh!

Thanks.. you know, it's so lame, I heard back from the coach. Everything had been agreed to; the manager said (today) he needed an email from the coach saying he agreed, then he'd send an email back saying "Here's your start time" then he had to email a response to THAT saying he accepted the time, and *then* the manager would send out another mass email saying everything was on again.

I guess it has been too long since I worked in an office, I just have a hard time dealing with the bureaucracy, lol!

Bureaucracy is never fun to deal with. :( You can take a little comfort in knowing how hard you are working for your kids and how much they appreciate it. :)

You have really earned the Fortitude Of The Year Award, Kids Activities Category for this!! Maybe, just maybe this will be the last big glitch and it'll be smooth sailing from here on out? (You know, maybe. :)) I sure hope so!

(((Kate))),

Your presentation here makes you sound very reasonable about all this. I'd be crazed with frustration, and all you've done is beat up your keyboard (well, and your head ). I hope you see some improvement now, with this current arrangement. Good grief!

BTW, not knowing your set up over there, are there language and/or cultural differences that affect all this. Or is it just sheer madness?

Take care of your head.
