View Full Version : Another Judo I can't believe I did it post.

Ds8 & ds7 tested for and received their orange belts in Judo, and I tested for a received my green belt. I'm proud of my boys, and I'm proud of me :D.

The tradition when you go up a belt color in our Judo club is that everyone gets to throw you. I posted a few pictures on my blog.

Congratulations!!! How exciting! I love the tradition of throwing you after a promotion.

Do you take a class for adults and then test with the kids? My kids' karate instructor has an adult class that sounds like fun, but I'm a bit nervous!!

Yeah, I can't believe so many kids showed up. Many were new, so I spent much of the time throwing myself to the mat for them :eek:.

The first hour is the Juniors class, and I either help teach or work on technique myself. The second hour/hour and a half is the Seniors class where we work on technique and have randori (practice fighting). I absolutely love it. You should try the karate class out :D!

Just wondering 'cause of the flag in the back.

The Japanese flag is to the left but it's cut out of the picture. There is a Brazilian Jujitsu class that meets after us but I've never been. I'm not a big fan arm bars, so I don't think I'm cut out for Jujitsu :o.

Okay, I know that's lame. In our class, we're "karate-ka". What are you called -- certainly not "grasshopper"!

Falling is not one of my specialties - evidenced by the fact when I got knocked on my bum twice in the last tournament it really shook me up. Not that we're not trained to fall...just that I havent' learned it so well yet. And, unless we're working on falls, there are no mats underneath us. Sooo....

Anyway, the point is, I'm impressed! Congratulations, girl!!
