My 16yods is struggling to complete his American government credit the way I currently have it laid out. So, tonight I bought BJU's American Government program. It's basically a textbook/workbook approach which will probably work better for said ds than the living books approach we have been trying to take. There are two sample schedules suggested. One takes a semester and one takes a full year. Same material, just covered in half/double the amount of time.
In looking through all the materials, I'm thinking that even though we are halfway through the school year, it would be better for us to take the full year to cover these materials. Dh and I are keenly interested in American goverment and want our dc to be as well-versed and knowledgeable in this subject matter as possible. I don't have the teacher's edition yet (on order), so I'm not sure what the recommended credit assignment is. I'm thinking that no matter how long/quickly we covered this program's subject matter, it would still qualify for a full credit. I'm looking at having him do a lot of questions from both the textbook and the workbook. I also purchased a test booklet and intend to have him complete the tests for each chapter.
Has anyone here used this program? How much credit did you assign? Did you do it in a full year or just a semester? Did your dc like the program? Any comments would be appreciated! Thanks!
