Has anyone tried this? dmil purchased one to use on our Border Collie but I'm hesitant to open it/use it for fear it will be wasted money for her. Can anyone speak to whether it has worked for you?

Sorry, I haven't used it. I've used the "Furminator" on our English Springer Spaniel that gets bushy like a bear - love that! Is it similar? If so, I'd say open it. Does it have a money back guarantee if you don't like it? In that case, it's ok to try it. (though I do realize the "pain in the back-end" factor!)

no experience on dogs. But it was hard to pull through our cat's fur, and they hated it. I still have it stuck in a drawer somewhere.

Maybe it is better on dogs, because I see rave reviews for use with them.
