Is there a placement test anywhere or any samples? I've seen the scope on their site but I'd like to see some sample lessons.

If you join the yahoo group there are some samples posted there, additionally the company emailed me some samples when I asked. I am not sure about placement tests, I hope you get an answer as I would love to have DD take one.

Yes, there are placement tests. I believe they are called diagnostic tests. They are on the new site under support materials or something like that. I just ordered some - you would think I would remember! :>)
