what topics did you cover?
I'm piecing together the plant study portion for Life Science next year with a third grader. I've searched the boards and have a lovely list of books for our basket to read when we get to this portion. But I'm stumped on the topics I should cover for a third grader (I'm thinking a little more indepth than a first grader)
So far the topics I have in mind are:
Plant Cells, Plant anatomy (do plant dissection for lab): flowers, fruit, leaves, root, stem, seed (1 week)
Part of Flower (ovary, petal, pistil, pollen tube, sepal, stamen, stigma) (1 week)
Life Cycle of Plants (1 week), Plant reproduction (pollination), Photosynthesis
Not your typical plants (we will focus on things like moss, carnivorous plants, etc)
I'm planning on starting a vegetable garden so we will be having an ongoing discussion on the importance of plants to human survival. Also we will be going on nature walks on weekends so we will be discussing and identifying local plant life. Anymore ideas? :001_smile:
