Three programs that I really like the looks of are Song School Latin, Lively Latin, and Latin Prep. Now, I don't really know how these would all flow scope-and-sequence-wise. Would it be appropriate to go from Song School Latin into Lively Latin and then into Latin Prep? I would prefer finding one program that would cover all our years of study, but I haven't yet found one that is secular. Any advice? We're still a couple of years away from starting Latin but I tend to plan in advance. :o

Song School Latin is by the publishers of Latin For Children and they are currently working on "Upper School Latin" which is suppose to take the place of Weelocks I think. At the moment I plan to use their stuff all the way up.

We are doing LFC - A right now but I have considered getting LL as well to supplement because I like that they teach English grammar right before the same concept in Latin. SSL is basically just exposure to the language and it looks to me like you could use it before any other beginning Latin program - although not necessary. I am getting SSL for my 6 yo dd because Prima Latina is just to boring and LFC has to much grammar for a 6yo. She really wants to do Latin though and is very verbal so she is excited about it.

I normally suggest that people use whatever they like for Latin (or nothing at all) until 5th grade (or maybe 4th), then start Latin Prep at the beginning. You can move through LP faster if you like, but that way you can be sure to take advantage of its logical introduction of grammar.

Best wishes

What I recommend is if you are starting between 3rd (sometimes 2nd) and 5th grade - use Lively Latin. If you are 6th and up - Latin Prep.
