Follow up posts not showing up

Just in the last few days, I've noticed that when I click on a thread to see its contents, the subjects of the original post and all the follow ups appear in the top section, but only the original post is shown in full. I have to click on the subject of each follow up individually to see its content. Is this a change in the boards, or did I accidentally change some setting? I've looked through the user control panel, but did not find any options that seem to describe what I am seeing, so I would appreciate instructions if this is something I need to fix.
