My friend just called me to say that her dh has been banned from the message boards for the show "24."
We have all been great fans of the show for years, and are disappointed that it won't be back for some time.
I have visited those boards in the past, and they are very rough and tumble. This place looks like a nursery school compared to that board. People use a lot of er, um, colorful language, plus they are just rude to each other.

So df's dh posted something about life apparently imitating art on the show because "Kiefer is a drunk, and Jack is a heroin addict."

He went back, and his post had disappeared.
I do not agree with his choice of words, but I think that the point is well taken. Do you think it's odd to ban a person from a message board for something like that? I don't get it. Are they just not allowed to make anti-Kiefer comments?

I suspect that ripping on the star is not a great thing to do.

I've been banned for lesser offenses, so I'd take it with a grain of salt and find a "fan run" message board as opposed to an "official" one.

Sometimes they just aren't worth it. ;)

My sister got banned from the theonering.com because she said anyone who thinks balrogs do not have wings is illiterate and/or stupid. Some boards are mean, someboards are fluffy, they all have their own rules and culture.

It's possible that his post was deleted because of the responses it received, not because it was horrible. He may have just pushed someone's buttons, and they may have gone a bit nutty. The moderator may have deleted it to prevent further uproar.

Just because his post was deleted doesn't mean he was banned, does it? Did he try to post again?

No, he got an email from tptb saying that he'd been banned, his account deleted, etc.
