This is also my gut feeling but I keep on having doubts. Of course it doesn't help when other family members (not immediate) think I should be hands off. I'm surprised by how many of them don't have a clue what classes their children are taking or what grades they are getting until the report card comes. They also don't understand the fact that my dd doesn't swear, doesn't want to drink and isn't boy crazy.

My dh normally has more of the idea that we need to prepare dd for "real life" by letting her fight her own battles but he even agrees with me on this one. Of course it was many moons ago but dh and I were both in some honors classes and never had this kind of homework load.

Like I said a few posts ago I have no idea how some teens do it (hold part time jobs, get their homework done and have a social life). My dd can barely attend dance class let alone have a social life. That's why I want the school's help to try to figure out what is going on. Perhaps other students struggle too but none of the parents have spoken up. I also know from past experience (although it was more true at the public high school last year) that most of the kids we know are fine getting B's or C's and don't turn in all their homework or finish it on time.

I just don't want to be known as a "helicopter parent" but I also think that she needs help if she is drowning and that is what I feel like is happening.
