View Full Version : Does your 4th grader still do copywork?
I'm planning for next year and I'm unsure if I should continue copywork with my oldest. Thanks!

I stopped formal copywork by 4th grade. I will have my kids write something, like a letter, I will correct it, and then they will have to copy it properly in cursive.
We continue to work on penmanship (esp. in cursive), but my writing efforts now focus more on also getting them to compose well-written sentences (as opposed to just copying them).
hth!
I stopped formal copywork by 4th grade.
This is the way I am leaning. Thanks for your reply!

He does it as part of Writing Tales II and handwriting practice.

My 6th & 7th graders still do weekly copywork and dictation as part of CW Homer B and CW Poetry for Beginners.
Ya know, he will still be doing WWE which does include weekly copywork and dictation. I never even thought of that! That will be enough copywork. Whew! One less thing to worry about for next year. :)

I still am doing some copywork with my fifth grader, as he continues to need practice with his handwriting.

Same here. We're doing WWE also and there is enough copy work in there for us. She also does her A Reason for Handwriting and that's copywork too.

I do copy work with all my children up through 8th grade. Sometimes it is hit or miss, but we do it most weeks.
