We have flashcards for math equations
flashcards for writing (English grammar)
flashcards for Latin grammar
flashcards for Latin vocabulary
flashcards for spelling phonograms
flashcards for spelling rules
flashcards for spelling words
flashcards for Bible verses
and if you count the SoTW review cards--we've got some for History too!

we have a whole box full of flashcards.

--and I was just thinking I should make some up for our science vocabulary.

We could probably do an entire school day JUST WITH FLASHCARDS!

anybody else? or am I the only crazy one?

I think they are great, too and a box (actually various ones) for storing them is right at the top of my list for things to get, when we'll travel to a place where one can get stationary.

We keep ours in cardboard tea boxes. Ours are getting a bit out of control too but they work so well!

Yes, we do a lot of flash cards, but are no longer overrun with index cards. We use a fantastic program called ProVoc (Mac OSX only) and my sons use their iPods to review the cards. I do still use cards with my youngest though.

I love flashcards also! I recently decorated a small box with wrapping paper so I could organize them. We currently have math, latin and history (memory work). My dd is very visual and they just work so well with her.

Here's a system that might help you organize the flashcards you have: http://simplycharlottemason.com/timesavers/memorysys/

We use this system, but we only do flashcards for Latin, Greek, & Bible.
