and I'm not sure what to do about it. She actually has been quite depressed at times, but only off and on. We do not have insurance so I cannot take her to a doctor for this. It is starting to get on my nerves actually and it makes me not want to stay home on my days off (like today). *sigh*

Some things that can help:

higher protein diet
reg. sleep patterns--going to bed at the same time each night and waking up at the same time each day
exercise--at least 30 minutes a day
sunshine--or the special sun lightbulbs
Omega 3 essential fatty acids

If this is bad though, I would take her to the doctor and work out payment plans or something. Also, local community mental health agencies have appointments on a sliding fee scale.

Does she have a job, school other other outside activities and responsibilities? I know she just graduated from the virtual school recently right? It is a big transition "what are you going to do with your life" time. I always get depressed during times of great (or small) change.

Can you spend some time actively listening to her and get to the root of all of this? Then help her decide on goals and make a plan for a achieving them. Anything by Stephen Covey is great for planing life goals and priorities.
