If you have used Shiller Math, could you tell me what you liked and did not like about it? I have three dds who would be using it, dd10 (already multiplying and dividing--I've read that they do not teach multiplication but expect the student to already have that), dd8 (still struggles to do addition and subtraction--probably some dyscalculia, definitely some dyslexia), and dd4 (just getting started with counting, adding).

Thanks,

I used book 1 a little bit when ds was 4. We did not finish it so I don't know how helpful this will be. They used to sell a starter kit that just had book 1 and the relevant manipulatives.

The manipulatives are great. We use the base 10 set every day for Singapore. The Montessori approach is great for that age; the child doesn't feel quizzed or pressured. I didn't finish it because I had second thoughts about doing a math program with a young child, even though it was very gentle and fun. I thought about it for first grade but I have some concerns about the scope and sequence. I felt very unsure that books 1-3 was really covering all of what kids in third grade are usually expected to know-- for instance, it takes a long time spiraling through just to get through addition 1-10, and being a newbie I was nervous to try. I also discovered from looking at other programs that I don't like spiral math. But now and then I look at their site and wonder.

There is a yahoo group but it was not very active back when I was on it. You might check there.
