Help!! 8th grade science text: What do you recommend?..

Right now I have my 8th grade son in PS. Overall posititive experience except for science. My son was very strong in science. But he is struggling with his current science class for several reasons. I would like to purchase a science textbook for him. I think that we need to do some afterschooling. Which text is your favorite: Apologia, Bob Jones, or other.

for my ds who will be in 7th in September. It's for grades 6-8. I've heard lots of good things about them.

There are about 16 books in the series, and I let my ds choose which ones he would like to use next year.

We've been quite pleased overall with BJUP's Space & Earth Science (8th grade).
