The best way to read posts on the forums?

I wanted on some tips on how to read posts on this forum. What I normally do is visit the "new posts" page, and there are sooooo many new posts, that a lot of the time I get overwhelmed and cant get very far!

However, so many times I have asked questions, and people have jumped right in and helped me <thanks guys> ... is there are trick to this? Am I missing something?
