Want to share yours? Pretty please?

A few people have posted links to their beautiful yearly schedules and I'm so thrilled to download them, save them, peruse them, learn from them, and tweak for my own family's needs. Of course, it's my dream to find out that my homeschool twin is out there somewhere. She has a blog and that magical ability to share Word/Excel/Adobe files online. And she has three kids exactly one year older than my three kids. And she wants to study history in the same way and in the same sequence.

Are you there, Blogger? It's me, parasite. :D

There was a blog roll call recently and that got me thinking to ask who has those beautiful yearly schedules, broken down by week with readers, biographies, read-alouds, encyclopedic spines, etc. on their blog? (It sure would be nice to know. I wouldn't have to go search every nook and cranny of every blog linked through this forum hoping to find the beloved schedule.) If the idea of studying the Revolutionary War while reading a biography of Pocahontas or Pedro's Journal sends shivers up your spine, I need your help. If you are CM and incorporate art, music, and handicraft selections perfectly aligned with history, I will be your BFF. If you include important scienctific discoveries, living math, or copywork selections jointly aligned to history and WWE/FLL, you get consideration regarding my will.

I'm interested in everything from Kindergarten to high school. We're in this for the long haul!

Make all of us happy today. Show off your fabulous (and I'm hoping OCD) scheduling skills! You know no one will appreciate your efforts more than the WTM board (except, of course, your kids when they go off to Harvard)!

I love checking that kind of stuff out too, but have nothing to offer. How old are your DC?

How funny! My three are all one year older than your three, just completely opposite genders! I could be your go-before although I'm guessing my start with a two year American history won't work for you. :)

I really need to work on a signature...

Hmmm, do I count? (I mean, other than the fact that I have 4 kids, all boys, I plan to start a 2 year American History with my littles next Jan. . .)

I doubt if I meet your idea of scheduling perfection (what I write are less schedules than sequences) but you'll find what we use in the side bar of my blog (address in siggy).

You can be my go-before, that would be great!! I'd def skip the American history but i could cover Australian history in that time. Ooh, this could be fun, now to read the rest of the responses.

Well, I'm always happy to share, but my plans rarely do other people much good. I personalize my plans quite a lot to fit my kids' interests and learning styles, and we don't always stick to the exact WTM historical sequence. Add in the fact that I tend to buy a lot of my books used and on close-out tables (meaning many of them are out of print), and I'm not a whole lot of use to others.

My blog is here: http://tweakedacademy.blogspot.com/ There's a list of the materials we're using this year on the left. And if you scroll down a bit, there's a sample of one of my weekly planning pages. If anything you see there sparks your interest, feel free to shout out, and I'll send you copies of my plans.

Well, I don't quite meet my own idea of scheduling perfection either so I'm not quite as picky as I am unrealistically idealistic. Thanks for adding to the discussion. I found your Amazon Listmania links very helpful as I'm trying to keep my reader in age-appropriate but engaging books.

Plus, your schedule gave me the idea to incorporate meditation into our day. I sure could use some meditation lately! I must work on quieting my mind.

Try www.paulasarchives.com (http://www.paulasarchives.com) if you are interested in some nice schedules that combine popular history curriculums with SOTW. I'm using the MOH/SOTW one this year and it's working out very well for us. The direct link to the page is http://www.redshift.com/~bonajo/sotwmoh.htm . We use these with the read-alouds and learning activities suggested in either curriculum and we really like it! My kids say history and science are their favorite subjects.

I'm pretty OCD about this myself and am also using WWE/FLL...geez, I think I might faint on the spot if SOTW and MOH coordinated with WWE/FLL!

I think I'm going to have the same problem. I'm a book collector and I'm currently picking up lots of those Signature biographies written in the 1950s for our American history cycle. I think they're great but sharing a schedule that incorporates them could prove difficult to others.

I hear you about fitting your kids' styles too. If my daughter's personality continues along the same track, she is going to abhor studying history through war stories and only want to discuss people, people, people and their feelings. I'm on a mission to collect as many diaries as I can.

Do my eyes deceive me or are you using Hakim's Story of Science correlated with the Science of the Past books?! I actually have the Ancient Science book too. (Again, I was originally planning to do ancients in the first grade.) I'm seriously considering doing a two year world history cycle with Hakim's science series when my kids are in the upper middle years. We love science and I love these books! I'm hoping that all six will be out by then.

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for this. I especially like the schedule that aligns SOTW with CHOW, as I really like both. I was going to use SOTW alone but throwing in the CHOW chapters trouble-free on my part will be lovely!

Well, I'm glad I'm not the only one! It would definitely be a thrill to find the WWE/FLL coordinated with SOTW. Thankfully, I love language and have already resolved to use WWE/FLL as guides and make my own selections from our current reading. It may sound a bit odd but I am actually really looking forward to it.

Have you looked into Tapestry of Grace? They do a pretty good job of coordinating all the things that you mention. :-) We have been very happy with it.

I'm thinking of doing a history of science study before we start high school science too. You're a few years a head of me so maybe I'll get some ideas. :)

Sounds great to me too, though I think my selections will be different than most. My spine will be Connecting with History and I guess I'll just have to add whatever else I want to that. Hideaways in History also intrigues me, so I might be adding those ideas to CWH. My kids would love playing in history!

Yes, I am seriously considering using TOG later. I have downloaded all their samples and love the integration of the subjects. Unfortunately, when I first heard about it, I had already finished most of the planning for ancient history and bought all my resources. So, I couldn't justify putting more money into it. Then, of course, I decided to begin with 2 years of American history so that really put thoughts of TOG on hold. I am seriously thinking of using it starting with Medieval year.

Thanks!

How funny! I'll have to be sure my schedules are ready to share.

If I ever get my American history schedule finished, I'll be happy to share it too. All I need is some time to myself...maybe a long weekend at a cabin in the country.
