This movie would make an excellent addition to a unit study on the history of the U.S., slavery, the 20th century, the Civil Rights Movement. It does portray a lynching which is disturbing, a bar scene, some violence and sex scene.

I agree. I found it to be very well done. Also interesting, which is good. We watch a lot of educational movies, but if they're not interesting, then what's the point, LOL.

I thought this movie is excellent and I highly recommend. Denzel Washington played his role masterfully.
