We live northeast of Raleigh. We moved here 10 years ago from Baltimore. I grew up 5 miles outside a town of 251 (per 1970 census, but the town has grown to 351 per the latest census). Raleigh is a nice in-between kind of place because it has all the conveniences of a city without the high crime rate, traffic, and pollution.

Between Durham and Greensboro, I reckon.
I'm originally from Virginia and I miss it; but NC is starting to feel more and more like home. I LOVE the NC homeschooling laws; much simpler than VA.
My dh is a Mebane, NC native.
I actually think Charlotte and Ashville are two of the most beautiful locations I've ever visited.

We moved to the Charlotte area (Marvin, just next to Weddington) from Pasadena.
Huge difference. But for me, not only did we move across the country, but I also stopped working at the same time. It has been a difficult adjustment in many ways.

I'm actually in VA, but very close to the state line. We're about 30 minutes north of Oxford. I'd love to get my ds involved in a debate team if I could find one. Any suggestions!
We live in Cowee, a small community about 20 minutes outside of Franklin, NC. Franklin is rather well known, especially to Floridians...but it is most definitely a small town. You stand in the grocery line behind the
bank teller, head librarian and chief of police. There are few secrets here...or stores (except Walmart...surprise, surprise!). We have to drive an hour and a half to Asheville for a Target, Michael's, or even a decent haircut.
So...howdy from the sticks!

Hi Trish! Do you know of the spice-line yahoo group? You could also post there to get a group going. (My children are all a little too old for the pre-K set.)

Hi Brenda, thanks for responding, yes, I am on spice-line but I just thought that I might post here so that anyone who is doing the classical style would like to get together. I am not necessarily looking for only pre-k moms but just moms in general who are in Raleigh and teaching that style. I figure a night out once a month to have coffee and just to talk about home-schooling, kids, etc. would be nice.
