So I recently found a writing program that fits my goals, need for structure, and is working well for dc. (IEW)
I've tweaked SWR and have decided to stay the course (have 2 years invested in this program as well).
Then there is grammar. I really like the idea of waiting until 6th and doing AG, yet am worried I'll "ruin" my kids by not doing formal grammar until then and since they take tests yearly, I need something. I tried FLL, R&S, and GWG. None "spoke" to me or were what I had in mind. So this weekend I headed to Barnes & Noble to check out the Spectrum workbooks, before deciding between Daily Grams or Evan Moor's Language Arts. In with the Spectrum Language Arts was a series called "Flashkids". I looked at workbooks 1-5 and really like them, they are cover a wide range of skills and seem quite kid friendly. And at $5.50 each after the homeschool discount, you can't beat the price. So I decided to try them. My kids enjoyed them today. I don't recall seeing this series mentioned here before.
