Anyone use this? I hear it is pretty hands-on, something DS seems to need. Very interested in science and experiments.
This will hopefully be my last request about opinions on hands-pn science for him! Sorry!

This looked interesting to me too but I already have science picked out (BFSU). I hope someone has used this and can comment for you.

How old is the child that would be using it? I bought it last year for my daughters ages 7 and 5. I found it too basic for my older daughter who has a particular interest in science.

My DD is 6 going on 7 in May and we'd be looking to start this now to do over the summer since I've heard that there are nature activities that I can't complete during a school year.

Anyone? I know it's an older thread, but it is certainly of interest to me.

I will e-mail Jen and see if I can't get her over here. The program was changed in 2009, so that is probably the reason for a lack of response. Those who used it earlier used different spine texts.

I bought the updated version last year, but have not used it yet. I got sidetracked with a few other things. In an effort to spark that "love of learning thing" I've decided to slow down a bit. So we picked up WAM again today and I think we will start it and use this through the summer. There is a lot of notebooking. Some weeks have a project scheduled each day. It is very nature oriented, which we like. Let me know if you need any specifics.

Oh one more thing. I am not sure what ages you will be using it with, but it is designed to be light. However, the way the topics are set up you could very easily beef it up with additional resources.

Thanks for the help. I was actually considering trying to find an older version of the program since I've heard the newer version is lighter due to the Scicen Play book.

We did about half of WAM. Ds always called it our "fun science". I still plan to do parts of the remaining materials on our own schedule. The only part we didn't like was the daily written narration and illustration on More Fun With Nature. I drool over the new ency spine and inventors book. We also used Science Play in the old I'm Ready To Learn program and I found it appropriate for my older child as well. So IMO it doesn't necessarily make the program lighter.

Hey Snow White...they must have been listening to you. We have the newer version and there does not appear to be daily narration and drawing assignments. It looks like maybe one a week.

Just wanted to report that my ds enjoyed WAM today so much that he was wanting to do extra phonics and math so that he could be a better scientist. Maybe its just because its a new thing, but he was certainly motivated by all the wonderful topics that we will be enjoying.
