As I was looking at samples of Megawords I saw an ad for Writing Skills and decided to have a look-see. Unfortunately the samples of it at http://tinyurl.com/WritngSkills are not very helpful. Just curious if anyone has found this series useful at all.

Actually, I'm using the series this year with all 3 of my kids. We have been very grammar heavy the last few years (Rod & Staff) and decided to take a lighter, easier approach this year (we're focusing on other things, i.e. math & writing).
The grammar review is helpful, and I like it better than Easy Grammar (although it isn't as thorough as Easy Grammar when it comes to grammar because its focus is more on writing).
We are enjoying working through the series, and it's doing the job I want it to do. But it is not a full grammar or writing program, just a supplement.

I was only looking at it as a supplement. I don't really need the grammar aspect of it, but any grammar review is always helpful. ;) Also, since we are already using Writing Tales, and plan to jump into CW afterwords, I don't actually want, nor need, a full writing program.
Can you tell me more about the writing aspect. How the writing assignments are put together. How time consuming they are, and if they are beneficial for supplementing-in a different type of writing than what Writing Tales or CW teaches. I wish, wish, wish espbooks would show a sample of a writing assignment as well as the grammar part, but I couldn't find one.
My son has gone all "independent" on me this year, so I am looking for something that doesn't take a lot of mom-time.
